Guest Checkin Checklist
General
Ask guest to fill in the registration details and make sure you take a photo of each of their passports on the iPads using the application.
Give guest their lift passes if they have pre-purchased them.
Share the wifi network - ComeEatDeliciousFoodAtShaggyYak and password - snowballchalet
Explain about breakfast from 7:30am - 10am (some food will be ready at 7am however hot food and coffee won't be ready until 7:30am)
Espresso coffee and hot chocolate is ¥400. Instant coffee and tea are free all day.
If you would like snacks from the snack cupboard please pop the money in godzilla
we light the fire in the morning and then at around 2-3pm. If you are going to stay at Snowball Chalet during the day just let us know so we can keep it going for you.
Apres is from 4pm until dinner time. Please join us in the lounge. We have all sorts of yummy drinks plus gyoza, eda mame and sometime oyaki ringo (Japanese apple dumplings)
You are welcome to ask your friend here from other lodges.
If we get the numbers we can run tours... Snow Monkeys, Maguse Onsen, Japanese cooking class at Waremokou and a Japanese Degustation Tour. Please let us know if you are interested and we will organise it for you.
Ask guest if they need gear hire. Call Myuki for a pickup at a convenient time for the guest.
Describe how to get to the ski run from Snowball Chalet.
Check restaurant bookings with guest and ensure reservations are made.
Let guest know Japanese are very punctual and expect us to be the same.
Please don't ever miss a reservation. Some westerners do this and it really upsets the restaurant owners.
For Maroudo and Donguri Tei they have to have 24 hours notice to cancel. We won't be able to cancel within this time frame. If you would like to make any changes to restaurants please let us know as soon as possible so restaurant owners are happy.
Explain where to go to exchange lift pass vouchers or to buy lift passes.
Show guest the Ofuro. Explain the following...
Ensure luggage is taken up to room while guest is filling in details if there is another staff member nearby otherwise helps guest to room.
Take guest to room.
Tell guest their room door code
Explain how to use the room heater (on/off, heat, temperature)
Explain to guest about toiletries bag. It is for them to take it away if they want to.
Let guest know Snowball Chalet has been built using Japanese construction techniques so there is not a lot of sound insulation. Please be try and be quiet after 10pm so other guests are not disturbed.
Guests can ask for fresh towels if they need them. Just find a staff member.
Ofuro instructions...
Ofuro is used on a first come first served basis.
If someone is using the ofuro please come back later
If the tub is filling up someone is going to use it so please come back later
Please bring your towel and toiletries from your room. Take your towel and toiletries back to your room when you have finished
Turn on the heater and keep the door shut so the room is warm for you.
Fill the tub and set yourself a timer for 20 minutes so you can come back when it is full. Please don't forget about the running bath.
Once you return the tub should be just about full.
The ofuro is a traditional Japanese style bath. Please have a shower and wash yourself before you get in the tub.
Please don't use any soap, shampoo or conditioner in the tub
Please take off all jewellery, watches, and clothes before getting in the tub.
When you are finished please empty the tub.
Please leave the ofuro as you found it and take any personal belongings back with you.
Please turn off the heater when you are finished with the ofuro.
